Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world at an elevation of 8,201m and lies at the western part of the Khumbu region, about 20 km west of Mt. Everest. Cho Oyu is aptly named, as the word ‘Cho Oyu’ means ‘Turquoise Goddess’ in Tibetan which clearly describes how beautiful and humbling the mountain is. The mountain stands on the Tibet-Nepal border. The generally moderate slopes of the northwest ridge route make Cho Oyu arguably the easiest 8,000m peak to climb.

Cho Oyu is an excellent way to get started at climbing 8000m peaks, and many climbing experts and expedition organizers recommend Cho Oyu as the peak to train at before attempting Mt. Everest. All logistics for the expedition are carefully planned out and efficiently executed to ensure a successful and safe expedition by people who have worked on the mountains for years, even decades. The detailed planning however does not in any way compromise the excitement and adventure of the climb.

Itinerary

ENTRY LHASA EXIT ZANGMU

Day 01- Arrive in Kathmandu.
Day 02- Stay in Kathmandu.
Day 03- Fly to Lhasa(3,600m).
Day 04 and 05- Lhasa city tour.
Day 06- Drive to Shigatse(3,900m).
Day 07- Drive to Shekar(4,350m).
Day 08- Drive to Chinese Base camp(5,200m).
Day 09- Rest at Base camp for acclimatization.
Day 10- Trek to Interim Camp.
Day 11- Trek to ABC.
Day 12 to day 32- Climbing period.
Day 33- Cleaning Base camp.
Day 34- Trek to Chinese Base camp.
Day 35- Drive to Nyalam.
Day 36- Drive to Kodari and same day to Kathmandu.
Day 37- Extra day in Kathmandu.
Day 38- Fly back home.

Day 03- Drive to Nyalam.
Day 04- Rest at Nyalam to acclimatize.
Day 05- Drive to Tingri.
Day 06- Rest in Tingri for acclimatization.
Day 07- Drive to Chinese base camp.
Day 08- Stay in the Chinese base camp for acclimatization.
Day 09- Trek to Interim Camp.
Day 10- Trek to ABC.
Day 11 to Day 32- Climbing period.
Day 33- Cleaning up ABC.
Day 34- Trek to Chinese base camp.
Day 35- Drive to Nyalam.
Day 36- Nyalam to Kathmandu.
Day 37 and 38- Extra days in Kathmandu.
